Reach Truck
To be able to keep storage areas orderly and to pile up pallets of goods and supplies, a reach truck can be utilized. The reach truck comes in several models: the straddle reach, stand-up reach and the double-deep reach.
The most basic type is the stand-up. The truck forks slide under the pallet and move it to the correct storage place. The forks slide the pallet into place. This particular kind of reach truck is suitable when shelving units are just one pallet in depth.
Ideal for workplaces where the shelving units are deep enough to accommodate two pallets of goods, the double-deep reach truck, which is similar to the stand-up, is usually utilized. This model consists of telescopic forks designed to place the pallet at the back of the shelving unit. This eliminates the need to push the pallet back when another pallet must go into the same shelving section.
Straddle reaches have the additional advantage of being able to not just slide underneath the pallet, but also to grasp the sides. These are recommended for workplaces where shelving units are accessible in many directions. This version is best in situations where goods would not be damaged if the pallet sides are grabbed.
Usually more than one type of reach truck is required inside warehouses. Manufacturing facilities and textile firms use different kinds of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not difficult to utilize and can increase production while making the most of available storage space.
