Inventor Jerome Case established the company of CASE within Racine, when he started the construction of threshing machines. Later the company gained recognition internationally as the initial builder of steam engines for its agricultural application. In time, the business grew to become the world's biggest manufacturers of steam engines.
Case had established themselves in the construction machine industry by 1912. They became a producer of road building machines including road graders and steam rollers. Case grew their construction equipment company through various acquisitions, starting with the American Tractor Corporation during the year 1957. Case had expanded their company by the middle part of the 1990s to become the top maker of light-sized to medium-sized construction machinery.
Case merged with the company New Holland during 1999 and together they became CNH Global. This corporation became responsible for marketing some of the world's top brands of construction and agricultural machines.
